Gerard graduated from Utrecht University (The Netherlands) in 1997. After have worked for two years in a mixed practice in The Netherlands he moved to the UK and worked for six years in a dedicated small animal practice in Oxfordshire. He obtained the Certificate in Small Animal Surgery (CertSAS) in September 2004. This is an advanced post-graduate proof of specific knowledge in orthopaedic and soft tissue surgery.

Gerard stated Wear Referrals in 2005 and the practice has rapidly grown ever since. His special interests are orthopaedic problems in the growing young dog, spinal disease and magnetic resonance imaging. Gerard spends most of his spare time with his young family and enjoys cycling and Jazz music.
