An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced, enthusiastic and passionate HCPC-registered Diagnostic Medical or Veterinary Sonographer used to working autonomously to join our specialist veterinary team at Wear Referrals.

We have a variety of ultrasound machines including a Samsung RS85, which is used for the majority of the workload.

Full training will be given by experienced veterinary sonographers with the support of the hospital’s ECVDI residency-trained diagnostic imager.  The majority of scans will be abdominal surveys of cats and dogs, however neck ultrasound, and point of care scans will also be required.

The work of a veterinary sonographer is very different to scanning in human medicine with emphasis on different anatomy, technique, pathophysiology. Pet owners are never present during scans – this is a non-client-facing role.

Once competent, alongside day-to-day scanning you will be required to:

  • support basic ultrasound training for veterinary interns and residents.
  • provide support to the multi-disciplinary team for ultrasound-related matters

Applicants must be highly motivated, proactive and passionate about delivering clinical excellence, with excellent social and clinical skills.  This is ideally a full-time role, though applications are welcomed from both part time and full-time applicants.

Wear Referrals provide a competitive salary and benefits package including a generous CPD allowance and 2 weeks’ paid CPD leave, 6.6 weeks’ holiday, payment of professional registration fees, professional indemnity cover, health care and discount purchasing scheme.

Closing Date: 11th December
