Emily Macleod
RVN - Feline advocate
MA BSc (Hons) RVN
Emily has a degree in Archaeology and Classics from the University of Glasgow, graduating in 2016. She has a particular interest in the human migratory experience during the Neolithic Period and the Bronze Age, and was lucky enough to take part in excavation work around Scotland. However, Emily’s true passion lay with animals, so she made a career change and graduated from Edinburgh Napier University in 2020 with First Class Honours. Throughout her studies she had the pleasure of working for a variety of veterinary practices in and around Glasgow.
Emily joined Wear Referrals in September 2022, after working in the North East for two years at a small animal hospital. Whilst in general practice she particularly loved in-patient care, and seeing animals go from strength to strength whilst hospitalised. She has a soft spot for Cavalier King Charles Spaniels, with whom she grew up. She decided to become an Oncology nurse after her two beloved dogs, Piper and Orla, were affected by cancer; she understands the patient and the owner journey more deeply, and she cares very much about the subject of Oncology for that reason.
In her spare time, Emily is a massive Formula One fan, she never misses a race. She also loves exploring the countryside with her husband. They have a little black cat, named Jude, Emily adopted from her previous workplace as a stray…he was only supposed to lodge at her home for four weeks, but soon found his forever home with them, and they wouldn’t be without him.
