Cat Friendly Clinic

Cat Friendly Clinic

At Wear Referrals we understand that cats are not just small dogs!

Cats not only have a range of diseases of their own but also have different temperaments that should be handled and treated in a different way.

Bringing your cat to the vet can be stressful for you and for your cat. Here at Wear Referrals, we do all we can to minimise the difficulties that cats and their owners may encounter when they come to see us.

From vets and nurses to our client care team, we are all trained to be aware of the needs of cats as well as what are the best ways to work with them alongside feline friendly facilities to make their time with us stress-free as possible.

Wear CFC logo - SilverThrough our commitment to provide exceptional care for cats and their owners, we have been awarded the Silver Level Cat Friendly Clinic accreditation by International Cat Care (iCatCare).

This accreditation means we have to meet a high standard of feline-specific care, including:

  • Offering a separate cat waiting area with blankets in the waiting room, as privacy covers.
  • Appointing a cat advocate.
  • Offering a separate cat ward with feline-friendly cages and veterinary equipment specifically for treating cats. Our cat war has a variety of cat litters, toys, food and water bowls to make cats feel as home as possible. We also have igloos that prove privacy and a higher viewpoint.
  • Vets and nurses need to undertake feline specific courses and seminars demonstrating they are trained in caring for cats sensitively and respectfully in order to minimise stress.
  • Cat taxi, to allow smooth transportation of patients around the hospital.
  • Cat weighing scales.

All these things add up to give the best possible experience for cats in our care.
