Christie Short has been working at Wear Referrals as a soft tissue nurse for nearly two years. Her favourite part of the job is seeing difficult cases recover and go home happy and well.

Christie loves working for Wear because every day is a school day, whether it’s honing her soft tissue skills or learning about anaesthesia. One of her most memorable cases is a Saluki which needed full wound reconstruction and a caudal superficial epigastric wound flap after an accident.

Christie helped nursed him for a couple of weeks in hospital, managing his pain and wound care, until he finally went home and made a full recovery.

When Christie is not dedicating herself to nursing, she enjoys taking care of her dogs, three-year-old Elvis and six-month-old Elma, and riding her horse, Enzo.
