We’ve been delighted to welcome Ben Harris as our new clinical director here at Wear Referrals.
Ben will lead our clinical services with a clear mandate to ensure we continue to deliver the very best of care for clients, patients and referring vets.
Ben’s roll call of professional achievements is certainly impressive, aside from his numerous post-nominals (MA VetMB CertSAM FLS DipECVIM-CA MRCVS), he is a European and RCVS Recognised Specialist in Veterinary Internal Medicine and we’re over the moon he has chosen to join us.
Darren Stubbs, our hospital manager, said Ben will be a key asset in keeping us at the pinnacle of the profession: “Ben’s role as clinical director is to drive and maintain the highest clinical standards in all disciplines.
“This involves ensuring an evidence-based multi-disciplinary approach, supporting a process of continuous learning, fostering a collegiate atmosphere, running and responding to clinical audits, organising journal clubs and supporting clinical research projects.”
Ben, who graduated from Cambridge University veterinary school in 2002, spent the first seven years of his career in a private veterinary practice in London, developing his interest and skills in internal medicine.
He completed an ECVIM residency training programme in small animal medicine at the University of Cambridge, during which he conducted clinical research and taught graduate students.
He went on to create an ECVIM-accredited residency training programme at his previous specialist veterinary referral centre and led the training of medicine residents. Alongside his clinical work, Ben was Head of Quality and Governance.
He regularly participates in and presents at international conferences and CPD events and has authored peer-reviewed papers and book chapters.
Away from work, Ben sings in a cathedral choir, is a keen cook, avid gardener and botanist, enjoys weight training, wine-tasting, and he’s just taken up archery – and we’re sure he will be on target in leading the team here!
