Supporting our Team and Creating Hope Through Action

This week marks World Suicide Prevention Day, with a theme through to 2023 of ‘creating hope through action’.

This is something we take very seriously here at Wear. People are at the very heart of our hospital and we are committed to creating a workplace culture that actively supports good mental health.

We want our hospital to be a place where everyone feels confident to seek help with mental health issues when they need it without fear of stigma, along with providing a supportive environment where everyone can thrive at work.

We have the highest number of Mental Health first aiders within any Linnaeus practice, with 13 MHFA from every department and team, so there is always someone members of our team feel comfortable talking to.

We also have regular ‘Mindful Moments’ focusing on a variety of mental wellbeing topics and campaigns and have dedicated in-house Human Resources support, along with internal and external counselling services.

Our ‘pick and mix’ tool box of ways we can support our team means that every approach is unique and truly bespoke, just like them.

In addition to supporting our own team, we understand more needs to be done to support everyone working in the veterinary industry, which is why we back the non-profit, Not One More Vet (NOMV).

This vital charity works to transform mental wellness within the industry so veterinary professionals can survive and thrive through education, resources and support.
